Sexually transmitted diseases or sexually transmitted infections affect people of all ages, backgrounds and from all areas of life. In the United States alone there are approximately 15 million new cases each year. These infections are spread from person to person primarily through sexual contact. More than 20 sexually transmitted diseases have been identified.
Sexuality is a crucial aspect of human life and functioning. The drive to reproduce our species is central to the survival of the human race. The Southeast Utah Public Health Department has the mission of protecting the community’s health through the promotion of wellness and the prevention of disease. The Health Department is responsible for follow up on all reportable STDs and contact tracing with referral to treatment for those contacts.
